One of the upcoming features for GU52 is a new system that will allow players to write and distribute their own books in the world of Norrath. These books look and act just like the current books in the game. You can hold them in your inventory or place them in your house or guild hall for other players to read.
These user-written books can be obtained from a crafter and will start out blank. Any player can write in a blank book, but as soon as you write the first word you become the author of that book. From that point forward, only the author may edit the contents of the book.
The book window will display an “Edit” button whenever you read a blank book or a book you have authored. Clicking the edit button will reveal controls that allow you to enter text and see the layout from page to page.

There is no limit to the number of pages, but books are limited by the amount of text. A progress bar will let you know how much more text your book can hold as you are typing. There is also an auto-save feature that will periodically write the contents of the book to your hard drive in case of a crash.
When you’ve completed the book and you’d like to distribute it, you can make as many copies as you like. All you need is the original book and a blank book. Right-click the original book and choose “Copy”. Your cursor will turn into an arrow allowing you to select the blank book in your inventory that you’d like to copy it to.
User-written books are tradable allowing you to give them to friends or place them on the broker. We’re really excited about this new feature and look forward to seeing your creativity!

Yes, yes, yes!
That is downright awesome and something I’ve been wanting for years.
Now all we need are signs that function like the books, but look like, well, signs, that have shorter text limits but whose text is piped into a hover-over mechanism.
Muchos Kudos to Rothgar. That must have been one of the nifty things he couldn’t tell us about before now

WOW! I am SO looking forward to this! It sounds fantastic, and it’s going to be amazing to have a house filled with books that my friends have written as opposed to the same books in every house.
GREAT idea! LOVING IT.

How about making a geocaching game or quest line with the books? Like a continuing story with directions to the next part of the story in a place which is relevant to the story?
Player generated quest with the reward being the collection of the books… that would suit EQ2 setting SO well.

How about we get some more info on the update for “Picking up No-Trade House Items”
http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?topic_id=434914
Since the GMs and CSRs refuse to help me with getting my house items back from a former guilds guild hall who’s only trustee also refuses to give back my house items.

Pretty cool feature.
For the expected deluge of unsolicited, (key word is unsolicited), spam and porn put out by immature individuals, do we just report the offender?
Note I am not advocating censorship, I’m just pointing out that unsolicited porn will be pushed out by immature individuals if not out-right porn peddlers.
Not a lawyer but aren’t there some legal issues with regards to porn and the internet? Folks under the age of 18 do play this game. I wonder what SOE’s legal exposure on this?
How does this effect the game’s rating?

This is a great idea some people enjoy the little things in this game like decorating their houses or just hanging out and chatting with friends. I think soe is opening a good market here. They could also have something like an upgraded book or a bard that sings a song you wrote these could be for sale on station cash…just don’t take to long your infamy is decaying as we speak

the first words out of my mouth after reading this was ” Oh My GoD!!”.
This is GREAT!!
I collect in game books and have a rather large library now ( over 300 I believe)
People can now write out their lore In game, or those more creative can be authors of great stories.
I can see authors hocking their books on the streets of the city. This is very exciting !!
I cant wait either!!
